What Type of Creative Learner is Your Child? (Intelligence comes in many forms. Let's get creative with it!)

Modern psychology is all about giving names. People identify themselves as introverts or extroverts, auditory or visual processors (etc.), and sources, from essays to books, are readily available to explain the whys, hows, and overlaps in naming yourself one type or another. When it comes to learning and intelligence, there are plenty of theories, but no universal conclusion about what makes a person intelligent and more specifically, how. This can be challenging for students who struggle to adapt to different teacher's styles and paces. After all, how can you adjust if you're not sure what works?
The answer is art!
Arts education calls on a unique combination of smarts for young artists to use and play with. Storytelling, for example, requires not just language skills, but also logic (plot structure), empathy (understanding your characters and audience), and performance (how to communicate your story in its best form). By getting involved in the arts while young, your children will be exposed to the greatest variety of learning types, and as a result, develop and recognize their strengths without even realizing they're doing it! Not only does art give a more comprehensive educational experience than the classroom can provide, artistic endeavors rely far less on finding a single right answer. Children can explore different ways of comprehending new information and practicing skills without the pressure of a letter grade, or the stress of assignment number 2 coming their way before they've mastered assignment number 1. Giving kids a supportive environment for artistic play will make them more capable to deal with other learning situations.
Unlike other arts programs, Lola's Lab incorporates creative activities in all disciplines. With the array of opportunities, every kid finds something to latch onto, and many Lola's alums pursue an art form in greater focus once they reach middle school. We are proud to inspire kids to learn, love, and laugh in Lola's Lab!
