While you are getting ready to Groove with us in our camps this summer, take a look at just how topical our camps are with this great video about the importance of arts! This BBC video was made to express the importance of MUSIC, but what I love about this song and video is how relevant it is to the necessity of collaboration. The requirement of any great work, whether art-related or not, is an ability to bring people together and utilize all of those talents to produce. Also, it's quite obvious that ALL ARTS ARE INTEGRATED not only in this video, but important for personal development and the betterment of a collective society. And that means you Lab parents can feel awesome because you already know it and make sure your kids are in the Lab!
Personally, I think the BBC's art director did a terriffic job of expressing the imaginative visions we see in our minds eye which are so often too expensive to ever produce into reality. It's incredible, right? So share it with your kids! Send us your comments!
Here's some more info all about the video:
Stars including Pharrell Williams and One Direction have recorded the Beach Boys track God Only Knows to launch the BBC's new music initiative BBC Music. The song was broadcast simultaneously on Tuesday on BBC One, Two, Three, Four and Radio 1, 2, 4, 6 and 5 Live.
The track, which will also be released in aid of Children in Need, features 27 artists across all musical genres. They include Sir Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Chris Martin, Sam Smith, Brian May, Jamie Cullum and Nicola Benedetti. The song's original writer, Brian Wilson, also features on the track, along with the BBC Concert Orchestra. The collective group of musicians has been named the Impossible Orchestra.

You might be surprised to learn that the Beachboys were rivals with the Beatles and Brian Wilson, who wrote and sang in all their songs is respected as a major musical genius. His story has been profiled in the recent Love and Mercy movie. In the Lab, we look out to share genius at work. 3 years ago, at our very first Groove camp, we profiled the Beach Boys in the curriculum and the kids produced their own Surfin Safari music video!
If you are ready to groove now, hurry and sign up for Groove camp! We have several Groove weeks this summer in Arlington and Rockville. See you there!
