In preparation for our next exciting events, I am spending this week writing our adventure, "Zootopia: A Royal Kingdom" into a book! This will be my first book after writing about 30 plays in the last 3 years and is a natural extension of all the fun we are having and all the creativity that has been going on! By having a book form, kids will be able to relive the adventure and share this exciting story with brothers, sisters, parents, and friends! This also makes for a great program souvenir, or present. Hopefully it will also contain pages where the kids can create “inside the story”, just as we do in Lola’s Lab live adventures together. We’ll see, as it’s my first foray into digital publishing!
It's a little daunting writing my first book but I am excited to start. Yesterday I outlined the story and figured out all the potential scenes I want to illustrate. Today, I attempt the first line of the book! The hardest part! (no pressure, right)? Ha!
How’s this opening page?
The king sat in his castle listening to his Jester suggest how to tell his son the big news.
“Er... great news son, you’ve been invited to a wedding, as the groom!
“Hmm, no. Too sneaky,” said the King.
Jester tried again, this time, wearing a floppy sun hat, tropical swimsuit,“Hey, nice weather we are having, eh? Anyone for a surprise wedding?"
“Uh, well, maybe I might be better explaining this by writing a note,” The King said. He grabbed some parchment and in his Kingly script he scribbled, “Dear son, you’ve been arranged in marriage to the Princess of Belkenbop, from over the mountain top. You’ll be married by the end of the week.”
“Ugghh,” thought the king. “This is my one and only son. A note is too cowardly. I’m the King of Snizz. I’ll have to just break the news quite bluntly. I’ll call him forth, put on the razzamatazz and just blurt it out!”
Now on to page 2...Oh boy!
Make sure to register today for our camps- they both are weeks of creativity that your kids will never forget! Part story, part arts workshop, 100% adventure!
